Lauter Tun
Cylindrical, vertical, double-jacket, insulated stainless-steel vessel with dished-top designed to conduct decoction mashing
(in conjunction with Mash Tun) and to extract and rinse maltose-wort from spent-grain.
(for more info see Brief Brewing Info)
Material:
stainless steel AISI 304
thickness: cylinder 3mm, bottom 4mm
Inner surface treatment:
cold-rolled plates 4mm-thickness, 2B surface treatment, welds grinded to Ra 0,8µm.
External surface treatment:
cold-rolled plates grinded to SB.
Insulation:
Polyurethane - thickness 150 mm, density 1,09 g/cm³: both cylinder and conical bottom
External-Jacket:
Stainless steel plate - thickness 1,5 mm, both cylinder and conical bottom
Vessel`s conical bottom with inverted conical center is sloped to collecting pipes to run-off maltose-wort to the collector.
Separation of spent-grain from wort is performed by removable milled false-bottom placed above lower bottom (milled slots
are 0.7 mm wide, throughput is 12%). Under the false bottom there are 16 rinsing-nozzles for cleaning and sanitation purposes.
Circulating pump is used for transporting of mash to lauter-tun false-bottom via 120mm-pipe. In this way, quality and maximum
yield is achieved.
Tank is equipped with rakes powered by frequency changer controlled geardrive. Recommended ideal rotations are 1 RPM. Two
pneumatically controlled pistons(placed at the dished-top)enable vertical movement (up to 150 mm) of rakes that have two
functions:
- at forward rotations, rakes cut through the raw material sitting on false bottom,
- at reversed rotations, spent grain is pushed out through the side man-way door.
For thorough emptying of spent grain a manual rubber-lined rake is used.
Dished-top of Lauter Tun is equipped with round 500mm man-way, 150mm vent-chimney, rotating mechanical sprayball, water
dispering head for sparging and an elbow for scum rejecting.
