Whirlpool
Cylindrical, vertical, double-jacket, insulated stainless-steel vessel with dished-top designed for separation of sediments
from wort prior to wort cooling.
(for more info see Brief Brewing Info)
Material:
stainless steel AISI 304
thickness: cylinder 3mm, bottom 4mm
Inner surface treatment:
cold-rolled plates 4mm-thickness, 2B surface treatment, welds grinded to Ra 0,8µm.
External surface treatment:
cold-rolled plates grinded to SB.
Insulation:
Polyurethane - thickness 150 mm, density 1,09 g/cm³: both cylinder and conical bottom
External-Jacket:
Stainless steel plate - thickness 1,5 mm, both cylinder and conical bottom
Wort is put in whirlpooling motion by agitator (Agitator is frequency changer controlled). After obtaining maximum rotating
speed, paddle gradually slows down till it comes to a complete stop. This allows the sediment to settle on the bottom of the tank.
Tank bottom is slightly conical from the periphery (1:20), from 400mm in diameter the cone becomes sharper with DN 65 outlet
for sediment removal.
Wort inlet is performed via tangential nozzle (jet) from the vessels side. Shape and routing of the nozzle enable wort whirling
and separation and settling of sediments in the bottom centre. For wort run-off Whirlpool-Tank is equipped with 2 wort-outlets:
wort is first remitted via side-outlet (400mm above bottom) and then via bottom-outlet.
Dished-top of the vessel is equipped with round 500mm man-way, vent-chimney and rotating jet-sprayball for sanitation purposes.
